Free TV Privacy Policy

This page explains the technical information that may be processed when you visit Free TV and what changes when you open an independent third-party service.

No Free TV account required

Free TV does not require a Free TV account, email address or password to browse its public catalogue. Do not enter personal or payment information into a website merely because it was opened from a Free TV listing.

Technical server information

Like most web services, the Free TV server and its security infrastructure may process standard request information such as an IP address, date and time, requested path, response status, browser user agent and referring page. This information may be used for delivery, abuse prevention, reliability, debugging and aggregated traffic measurement.

Browser and application storage

The web application may store preferences and application state locally on your device so that features can work between visits. Your browser or operating system provides controls for clearing site data, storage and installed web-app data.

Search and AI processing

Ordinary catalogue search terms may be included in requests to the Free TV server and can therefore appear in standard HTTP request logs. Free TV uses Cinemeta to retrieve movie and TV-series catalogue metadata and to match title searches. When the optional AI search feature is used, the full AI search prompt is transmitted by the Free TV server to DeepSeek to generate recommendations. Recommendation titles are then matched against Cinemeta. Free TV keeps the generated response and normalized prompt in an in-memory cache for up to one hour to reduce repeated processing. DeepSeek and Cinemeta process the requests under their own terms and privacy practices.

Subtitles

When subtitle features are used, a title identifier, language choice and related catalogue parameters may be sent by the Free TV server to OpenSubtitles. Search responses may be cached in memory for up to 30 minutes. Parsed Sinhala subtitle cues may be held in memory for up to 24 hours and cached on the Free TV server for up to 30 days to reduce repeated downloads. Expired prompt and subtitle cache entries are never reused, and automated cleanup is scheduled every minute. OpenSubtitles applies its own terms and privacy practices.

Playback-problem reports

If you choose to submit a playback-problem report, Free TV stores the selected reason, any user-entered note, relevant content identifiers such as title, channel, season or episode, the time received, and limited playback context. Reports are used to diagnose availability and player problems, are stored server-side with restricted file permissions, and are automatically removed after 90 days by the recurring cleanup process. Submitting a report is optional. Because Free TV has no user accounts and reports are not linked to an email address, Free TV may be unable to identify an individual report for early deletion; do not include personal information in the note.

Playback, images and network relays

Free TV may operate a playback relay or same-origin proxy for provider metadata, channel images, manifests, media segments, subtitles and DRM licence traffic. This can keep upstream addresses or credentials out of the browser and apply rate limits. The upstream provider generally receives a request from the Free TV server rather than a direct request from the user's browser, while the Free TV server still processes the user's IP address, browser user agent, requested resource identifiers and security-session information. Relay sessions are temporary; Free TV does not claim ownership of the relayed material and does not permanently store movie, series or television media files.

Third-party sources, players and downloads

Some content, players, app stores and download hosts are independent services. When your browser or device connects to one directly, that service may receive technical data and apply its own privacy policy, cookies, advertising, access controls and terms. Other requests may pass through the Free TV server as described above. Free TV does not control independent providers' retention or other practices.

You can avoid these optional disclosures by not using AI search, subtitle retrieval, playback or external links. Before entering personal details or allowing notifications, check the destination domain, privacy policy and permissions. See the online streaming safety guide.

Security and abuse prevention

Rate limits, opaque playback sessions and security logs may be used to protect the service and reduce automated abuse. Security controls are not a guarantee that every third-party destination is safe.

Children

Free TV is a general-audience discovery service and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians should supervise third-party services and content opened by younger users.
